Nintendo Announce New DSI XL…..WHAT?

So the Original DS was released way back in 2005. Since then we have been ‘treated’ to 2 different versions of the much loved portable games console. Now the latest version, The DSi, has been out for a measly 7 months and Nintendo have ALREADY announced a updated version of it named the DSi XL. (seriously you DO want to check these images out!) This will be ONE WHOLE INCH bigger than the DSi. It is also a pretty beefy games console as well! It will also include 2 styli(There’s the unique selling point for you). One that will be only 4mm longer than the DSi’s and a massive stylus that looks more like a pen, and this will not fit into the DSi XL. Is it too soon to release an update of an already widely owned console? I have never liked the idea of the DSi. And the DSi XL seems just to be making a mockery of us consumers. Am I just over exaggerating or do you agree? Feel free to disagree agree with me in the comment section.

FIFA 10

FIFA is the much loved football game for all ages from Electronic Arts. Fans like me have rushed out every launch day to get the updated game for their updated players and minor changes in game play and FIFA 10 was no exception. Well the rushing ou bit wasn’t but the minor game play changes was. Even though there has been no massive new feature, the difference in game play has been the biggest in any FIFA game ever. EA have made lots of minor tweaks and changes in this new version one being 360 dribbling and another more advanced ball physic’s. But all these hundreds of minor changes come together to create a game that is more realistic to the beautiful game.

FIFA 10 has really seen the AI upped a notch with more intelligent and human opposition countered with a more intelligent team mates making better of the ball runs and covering you when you evidently get played out of position or have a huge run up the wing.

Players feel more human for example today my defender jumped up to head the ball but missed and instead of miracly landing on his feat from a diving header like he would in a previous FIFA, he ended up face planting into the floor which not only made the game feel more realistic but was very funny to watch.

FIFA 10 looks as if it has got rid most bugs from its predecessors but seems to have brought a few with it. For example on 09 the commentators would always say that when I did a sliding tackle and the opponent got injured I was the one that had been crippled from my own tackle. Thankfully in FIFA 10 that piece of commentary hasn’t come up yet and looks as if it has been left out. The commentary isn’t perfect yet like the time when I had a goal kick but according to the commentators it was a corner. Overall the cometary it is much better than it was.

Despite these faults the game feels more realistic, faster, slicker and is as fun as ever. Definitely the best FIFA yet, a solid 9/10 from me!

Spore Movie?

EA have recently announced that a Spore movie is in the works, being a massive Spore fan, this both excites, and worrys me.

If done well this could be a brilliant adventure/comedy movie that does justice to the game and ends up with EA selling loads more copies.

But this could also go completely wrong, because, really, what can they really do a film about? There’s not much in-game that’ll make good viewing, just good playing.

I hope this turns out good, but there’s a little niggling feeling inside me that it won’t.

Norton 360, Protection or Scam?

AvastThe popular anti-virus Norton “360″ comes in useful for protecting your system, from harmless tracking cookies. So I’ve been doing some research into Norton “360″ (£???.99 – scam) Vs. Avast Anti-virus(Free)!

Not too long ago (a year or two) I had a virus Norton “360″ free virus Avastscanner didn’t pick it up, just like the paid for product! But Avast Anti-virus picked it up and removed it no problem. Why pay for something that just has a flashy user interface(Avast’s not so flashy but good enough) and picks up programs and harmless tracking cookies as viruses and “threats”? Just download Avast Free from: www.avast.com and save yourself a few hundred quid! It wasn’t so bad for me I got it at a really low price because of some special offer when I bought my Windows computer!

With the new release of Norton “360″ V3.0 I think their sales will rise due to the flashy new look and the v3.0 (I doubt it’s Nortonthat updated)

(Yes for all those mac fans/users out there, I’m a PC and proud of it! Oh look I’m not compatible with viruses, *que buzzer* WRONG I’ve seen millions of mac viruses)

I’m Gunna Buy Me Sum Illegal Cheeze!

So a few weeks (or months) ago I was surfing the web when I thought I wonder what I’ll get if I Google cheese?

The result was boring so I went to the images and saw this one:
Illegal Cheeze

So I clicked it.. and found a website about illegal cheese A.K.A The Cheese Enforcement Agency (C.E.A): http://bit.ly/8uTk2

Here is a quote for the image above:

Sightings and smellings of lethal X-14 have been reported. DO NOT approach this cheese. DO NOT eat this cheese. DO NOT attempt to move it. If safe to do so, cover with a wet blanket and Contact the CEA immediately. TAKE NO RISKS. X-14 is a KILLER.

Mi-Fi on Three

Today the Mi-Fi was released nation wide across 3 stores. Three is the first company to released the mobile wireless router technology in the UK after the Novatel Mi-Fi has been a hit with mobile internet users in the USA The Mi-Fi or Mobile Wi-Fi is a device that lets you connect devices like a iPod Touch or a laptop to the internet without a USB port. It works by tacking in Three’s 3g or HSPDA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) network signal and transmitting it as a wireless internet in the form of Wi-Fi.

The benefit of having a Mi-Fi over a USB dongle is that you can connect devices that don’t have USB ports like netbooks, iPod Touch and PSP. Also you can connect 5 devices at the same time and you can keep it in your bag and not have to plug something in to your computer. The benefit of having a USB dongle over a M-Fi is firstly it is cheaper than a USB dongle, they normaly cost around £9.99 the MiFi is £70. Secondly there is more potential to go wrong with wireless people can hack it or if dropped it will break more easily than a more robust dongle. Third and finally dongles are sold by all providers when the Mifi is only on three and believe me that is not my first choice when it comes to phone couriers.

Today I can proudly boast I brought the third Mi-Fi ever sold in the UK and also I can proudly boast even though I can engross myself in the RSS and XML of setting up a podcast I can’t turn the damn thing on and connect it (it doesn’t help when you get two sets of instructions one telling you to put the sim in and charge it for 12 hours and one telling you to leave the sim out and then charge it.) Tomorrow i will post an article on it including connection speeds ease of use and network coverage but first I have the joy of speaking to Three customer support (waiting Two hours for someone in an Indian call centre with a crap microphone so I can’t understand him calling me Mrs Meyer (Thats because of your high pitched voice — Joe) giving me no advice just asking me to buy more stuff)
